2019 – KIA OPTIMA SPORTSWAGON EU VERSION

On the occasion of the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, which will open its doors to the public between the 8th and 18th of March, many manufacturers are finalizing their launches and renovations. One of them comes from the Korean brand, which has just revealed the new KIA Optima, in the images the Sportswagon version, a complete update that affects the aesthetic level, power trains and equipment levels.The current KIA Optima generation, which was launched two years ago, is undergoing its first restyling in European markets. It benefits from changes in the front bumper and the rear bumper in the sedan version, as well as the distinctive brand ‘tiger nose’ grille with a chrome rim and redesigned front and rear optical groups, as well as the antinebline headlamps.The interior follows the same steps with changes present in the new steering wheel, with the enameled chrome frames and different upholstery options. We also find in the KIA model a new selector for driving modes and an ambient lighting system that can be customized and change color depending on the mode selected. On the other hand, GT Line and GT trim levels include new LED antinebline headlamps, glossy black exterior trim, a dual exhaust outlet and new interior trim.The range of colors has been updated with a new shade of red and customers can choose from different designs of alloy wheels. The KIA Optima update is also reflected in driving assistants and safety systems, with the latest manufacturer updates, with a complete and renewed line of engines as the main novelty within restyling.Regarding diesel engines, the KIA Optima will have a new block ‘U3’ 1.6 CRDi that equips the new KIA Ceed and that replaces the current 1.7 liters. Add to this a 1.6-liter 1.6-liter diesel engine, which is located below the 2.0-liter CVVL 163 hp engine, which is at the same time the most powerful option in the GT finish with the 2.0 T-GDi version of 245 cv. The new 1.6 T-GDi engine is coupled to a dual-clutch seven-speed manual transmission with paddle shifts behind the steering wheel at kia optima car cover.

KIA unveiled its new ProCeed shooting brake, inspired by the Proceed concept that the Korean brand introduced at the last Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017.As with the entire KIA Ceed line, the new ProCeed will be available with the GT-Line and GT equipment levels, the latter more sporty and top-of-the-line.Inheriting the name of the second-generation KIA Pro_Cee’d three-door coupe, the new ProCeed was designed, developed and produced by the European departments of the Korean brand – the model was designed at KIA’s European Design Center in Frankfurt, under the direction of Gregory Guillaume, European Design Director, and Peter Schreyer, senior design officer at KIA worldwide.At 4605 mm in length and 1422 mm in height, the new KIA ProCeed is 5 mm longer and 43 mm lower than the Ceed SportsWagon, and the ground height has been reduced by 5 mm. The wheelbase remains the same as the other Ceed models: 2,650 mm.With a capacity of 594 liters, the ProCeed trunk is 50% more spacious than the five-door Ceed hatchback. Although the luggage compartment of the Ceed SportsWagon is slightly larger – with a total of 625 liters, the ProCeed offers identical versatility – rear seats can be folded in 40:20:40.In terms of engines, the GT-Line version will have three blocks: 1.0 liter T-GDI of 120 hp, 1.4 liter T-GDI of 140 hp and the new 1.6-liter CRDi Smartstream diesel of 136 hp. All coupled to a six-speed manual transmission or automatic dual-clutch seven-ratio.The top-of-the-line GT version utilizes the same 1.6-liter T-GDi engine as the new Ceed GT: a power output of 204 hp and torque of 265 Nm, coupled with a seven-speed automatic clutch transmission with paddle shifts of metal in the steering wheel.Production of the new ProCeed will begin next November at the Zilina factory in Slovakia and the commercial debut is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2019. Prices are still unknown.

2019 – KIA SEDONA

KIA took advantage of the celebration of the Hall of New York 2018 to present to the public a series of important news for the North American market. One of them was the new KIA K900 2019, of which we have already given the details this week. But in addition, the Korean manufacturer chose this automobile event to introduce the update of its well-known minivan. The new KIA Sedona 2019 is already a reality.Known in other markets – as the Brazilian – under the name of KIA Carnival, it receives important innovations both visual and in terms of technological equipment and finishes. A mid-life upgrade, with which the KIA Sedona will face the remaining commercial life of this current generation.Taking a look at the images from the outside, it comes with a new front that resembles the KIA Sorento. It incorporates a new bumper, larger air intakes and a revised grille. Both the fog lights and the main headlamps have also undergone different changes, since now they rely on LED technology.In relation to the rear, the changes were smaller, although they are not less important. The flashlights have been reset and now show a chrome trim. The bumper has been redesigned to fit in with all the front changes. Depending on the finish set, the exterior will adopt a more sportive and dynamic image. New wheel designs of 17 to 19 inches should also be added.As for the interior of the KIA Sedona 2019, there is a cabin with deep changes. The instrument cluster has been updated and new USB inputs have been installed. A sunglasses holder and a wireless charger for compatible mobile devices have been added to the center console. The Infinity audio system was replaced by a Harman Kardon.On the other hand, the rear seats benefit from a new infotainment system with two 10.1-inch touch screens. In addition, and not least, the new Sedona line benefits from new driver assistance systems such as the front-end crash alert, blind spot warning, and intelligent cruise control.In mechanical terms, under the hood of the new KIA Sedona 2019 is a 3.3-liter V6 engine with 279 hp and 335 Nm of maximum torque, coupled with a new eight-speed automatic transmission which, according to KIA, helps reduce fuel consumption in relation to the previous model. Its commercialization in the United States will begin after its passage by New York.

2019 – KIA SPORTAGE US VERSION

After its passage through the Paris Salon 2018, the refurbished KIA Sportage will be ready to hit the market, where it will begin its trade journey from the fourth quarter of this year. This crossover is one of the most important models for the Korean manufacturer and this mid-life upgrade adds aesthetic, mechanical and equipment improvements that will surely appeal to customers.Outwardly the revamped Sportage can be recognized by its newly redesigned front bumper that now includes larger air intakes, redesigned optical groups and new antinebline headlamps, while retaining the brand’s ‘Tiger Nose’ feature.At the rear the lanterns and the bumper are new, while the exterior renovation is completed with new colors for the bodywork and new designs of alloy wheels, which according to the level of finish, are available in up to 19 inches diameter.The interior debuts a new steering wheel as well as improvements in upholstery, trim and materials, while the most relevant improvements in the equipment include a new 7.0-inch touch-screen infotainment system and some improvements in the roadside assistance package , such as speed control with limiter, driver fatigue detector, parking assistant with peripheral camera system, etc.The most important mechanical novelty of the upgraded KIA Sportage 2019 is hybridization, as the Korean crossover debuts a mild-hybrid 48 volt system which, thanks to an electric motor-based energy recovery system, has enabled improvements in fuel consumption and emissions.A new 1.6-liter diesel engine will debut with 115 or 136 horsepower. The engines can be combined with a six-speed manual transmission or seven-speed dual clutch automatic.
